American Express

10 days for new product launch.
In 1998, American Express had developed a new product to complement its financial services – the in-store ATM. Prospective customers were eager to try it out. Our challenge was to provide a fully-functioning prototype for the product roll-out at a United Artists theater in 10 days, starting with only artist drawings.
Redesign makes dream come true.
Our engineering department turned the customer’s vision into a manufactured reality. During the “real-world use test”, we discovered the maintenance access door could not function as pictured. Working with the customer, we re-designed the surround for easy access by authorized persons – the first of many improvements to come.
Prototype steals the show.
The prototype was delivered on time and with great success – it was a fully functioning ATM, with the exact look, feel and quality of the final, manufactured product. Since that opening, Philadelphia Sign has delivered nearly 2500 units and corresponding ATM signage.
